LAST LIGHT ART The Work of Adam LoRusso

///ARTIST STATEMENT
Adam LoRusso's artistic journey began on the floor of his father's wildlife sculpture studio in Medford, MA, where early sketches sparked a lifelong passion for creating. As a teenager immersed in the metal music scene, he designed album artwork and tour posters for his bands, which led him to discover tattoo culture and its rich history.

After graduating college with a degree in graphic design, Adam pursued a tattoo apprenticeship in 2010. Throughout the following decade, he wove together his interests in philosophy and religious studies with his artistic practice, using art as a vehicle for self-understanding and exploration.

In recent years, Adam’s work has shifted toward a more process-centered approach. Moving away from symbolically dense imagery, he now looks for the sacred within the seemingly ordinary. As the visible world is built from vibrating atoms, his paintings echo this structure through energetic, pulsing brushstrokes that reveal the extraordinary inside everyday moments. The human form remains his central subject, though he occasionally turns to landscape and still life. His figurative paintings abstract physical reality, exploring the underlying field of atomic subparticles and the unified energy that connects all things.

He currently tattoos full-time at his private studio, Last Light Tattoo Studio in South Hamilton, and teaches Drawing as Meditation workshops. Adam also hosts figure drawing sessions at his studio space in the Porter Mill Studios building in Beverly, MA.

“When you walk, when you enjoy the morning sunshine, the trees, the friends, you don’t need thinking to do all that. We have to learn to be in a non-thinking mode in order to get in touch with the wonders of life. I think we all think too much.”

– Thich Nhat Hanh

CLIENT TESTIMONIAL

“I commissioned a painting from Adam, in a turning point in my life, after seeing his nudes in a pop-up gallery.  They weren’t portraits - but they were simultaneously representational of a person, and at the same time, timeless abstractions of shape and color.

The result will be a lifelong treasure."
